SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. reported that its High Data Rate technology will be the basis for the Telecommunications Industry Association’s third-generation CDMA 1xEV standard, to be published as TIA/EIA/IS-856 “CDMA2000 High Rate Packet Data Air Interface Specifications.”
The standard is expected to support peak data rates up to 2.4 Megabits per second in a standard 1.25 MHz frequency channel. Qualcomm said it will support the 1xEV standard with chipsets and system software solutions for devices and infrastructure equipment.
