Comsat launches prepaid service

BETHESDA, Md.-Satellite communications provider Comsat Mobile Communications joined the prepaid bandwagon with the launch of its new Prepaid Calling Card Service for satellite calls, which the company said will make card use easier and reduce customer costs.

The company’s new system features six-second decrement billing-aimed at making calls more precise-off-peak calling and global rates for callers. The calling cards can be used on all of the company’s land, air and sea satellite technologies, Comsat said.

“Comsat Mobile’s new prepaid calling card offering is our latest service enhancement and part of a series of new mobile satellite services and system upgrades we are introducing throughout the coming months,” said Kathryn Y. Holman, Comsat’s vice president and general manager.

Comsat is a unit of Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications.
