KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint PCS and Palm Inc. have agreed to market and sell CDMA wireless solutions for personal digital assistants using the Palm OS platform and Sprint PCS’ digital voice and data network.
The companies plan to offer a co-branded version of the MyPalm portal, which will include Palm wireless PIM services, access to personal and corporate e-mail, e-commerce purchase options and access to personally relevant information on local and national events.
Sprint noted the deal will also allow enterprise customers to access their corporate e-mail, sales tool applications and corporate directories as part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business suite of products and services and Palm’s wireless enterprise solutions.
Initial solutions will include co-branded connectivity kits allowing customers to connect their Palm handhelds to a Sprint PCS Internet-ready phone. The kit, which will include a data cable, a Palm handheld adapter a CD-ROM and a user’s guide, is expected to be available early this year.
