DULLES, Va.-America Online Inc. users can now be alerted about the arrival of a specified e-mail message to their AOL account via text-enabled digital wireless phones or pagers.
The AOL Mail Alerts service, which is free for its customers using AOL 4.0 or newer, is part of the Internet service provider’s “AOL Anywhere” strategy.
“Increasingly, e-mail is becoming consumers’ preferred way to communicate, and with AOL Mail Alerts service, members can stay in touch without being tethered to their PC,” said Barry Schuler, president of AOL Interactive Services Group.
AOL also announced it has added a personalization feature to its AOLbyPhone service allowing customers access to their AOL accounts and services via phone.
