BellSouth increases domestic revenues

ATLANTA-BellSouth Corp. reported a 33-percent increase in domestic wireless revenue from the fourth quarter of 1999 to $1.2 billion, including its 40-percent stake in Cingular.

Net income from domestic wireless operations rose from $48 million during the fourth quarter of 1999 to $52 million in 2000. BellSouth also reported it added 367,000 new customers during the quarter, compared with 198,000 during the fourth quarter of 1999.

Average monthly revenue per customer fell for the quarter from $58 in 1999, to $53.

For the year, BellSouth’s domestic wireless operating revenue increased from $3.5 billion in 1999 to $4.2 billion last year, a 21-percent jump.
