CAMBRIDGE, Ontario-COM DEV Wireless, a subsidiary of COM DEV International Ltd., and Alpine PCS will partner to conduct initial trials of COM DEV’s M/ERGY high-speed wireless Internet system in the 1.9 GHz PCS spectrum beginning in the second quarter.
The trials will be carried out on Alpine’s packet-based system in San Luis Obispo County, Calif., and are scheduled for completion this year with full operational deployment beginning early next year.
COM DEV said its M/ERGY system will provide high-speed wireless modem support to laptop and desktop computers at burst speeds up to 2.45 megabits per second.
