Verizon buys licenses from Alltel

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless completed the acquisition of 20 personal communications services licenses in six states from Alltel Corp.

The company said the purchase of the 10 MHz licenses expands its licensed footprint and increases its spectrum capacity to meet the growing demand for wireless voice and data services.

The licenses cover markets in Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Financial details of the acquisition were not released.
