HONG KONG-Telstra Corp. Ltd. has formed Telstra International, a new business group that will manage Telstra’s Asia-Pacific interests.
Telstra International’s headquarters will be in Hong Kong and Dick Simpson, currently Telstra OnAir’s group managing director, will serve as president of the new business unit. Telstra’s new business group will cover ventures in Vietnam, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan and Sri Lanka. The recently established joint ventures with Pacific Century CyberWorks, which include Reach, the Regional Wireless Co. and the Internet Data Centre Co. will also be incorporated in Telstra International.
“Telstra International is the obvious next step in developing our growth opportunities which will come from wireless data and Internet in growing economies of the Asia-Pacific region,” said Ziggy Switkowski, chief executive officer of Telstra.
