HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia, KPN Mobile and Interpay Nederland have successfully made a financial transaction on a mobile network based on WIM technology, a part of the WAP 1.2 specification.
According to the companies, this real-time payment solution makes secure m-commerce possible. Users perform transactions with a PIN-code and a digital signature ensures non-repudiation. The system also boasts built-in security elements to ensure reliable transactions.
“This secure payment solution is a benchmark example of the direction in which mobile commerce is heading: People expect convenient and simple payment solutions which do not compromise safety,” said Janne Jormalainen, vice president of product marketing for Nokia Mobile Phone’s digital convergence unit.
