Oni Way, a Portuguese mobile operator that recently won a UMTS 3G license, has selected Accenture as the primary systems integrator for its integrated billing solution. The solution includes the Amdocs 3G billing platform. The Accenture/Amdocs solution provides Oni Way with single billing for voice, data and commerce transactions, the company said.
Sweden
Alice Systems, a Swedish software company, said it has received approximately $1.4 million in funding from the venture capital company, Argnor, and the wireless strategy consultancy, Northstream. Alice Systems said it will use to the funding to continue to upgrade applications for GPRS and 3G.
Australia
Hutchison Telecommunications Ltd. has chosen Motorola Inc.’s Global Telecom Solutions Sector to supply a radio access network to cover the greater metropolitan areas of Sydney and Brisbane as well as terminals. “The long-standing relationship between Motorola and Hutchison provided the necessary confidence for Ericsson Australia to include Motorola Australia to provide its radio access network for Sydney and Brisbane license areas,” said Motorola in a statement.
Japan
Ericsson in Japan said it plans to launch trial information and Internet services with Bluetooth technology as a prelude to a commercial take-off later in the year.
Czech Republic
Nokia Corp. says it has started shipping its 9210 Communicator phone which was launched at the Mobile Internet Conference in Prague, Czech Republic. The phone, which is a multitask device, will use open standards such as the Symbian Operating System, WAP and SyncML.
Finland
BT Industries Ab says it has implemented a Nokia virtual private network to enable its offices and mobile workers access to its corporate network over the Internet. “We chose Nokia because they were able to meet our requirements for a cost-effective VPN with high performance,” says Peter Lindqvist, a technology manager at BT industries.
