NextWave hearing postponed following tragedy

NEW YORK—NextWave Telecom Inc.’s Wednesday bankruptcy hearing was postponed as federal courts were closed after the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C, and a new date has not yet been set.

NextWave was going to court to outline its plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection, which should allow it to introduce its wireless data network. The FCC has encouraged the bankruptcy court to reject NextWave’s plan because it believes it lacks information about how the company will operate and how it will pay the $4.2 billion debt it owes the government.
