SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—Motorola Inc. has licensed it iTAP intelligent keypad text entry technology to Acer Communications and Multimedia Inc.
Acer said it will use iTAP technology, which it licensed for three years, in the mobile phones it develops for mobile handset vendors, including Motorola, to simplify and speed keypad text entry for text messaging. ITAP technology predicts words as users type on mobile devices by using word associations and its dictionary of 35,000 words. It also supports more than 20 languages.
