MIAMI—AT&T Wireless launched GSM/GPRS service in several markets in Florida covering more than 11 million potential customers from Daytona Beach through South Dade County and in areas surrounding Orlando, St. Petersburg and Tampa.
Customers in the area can choose from four devices to access the network including a pair of Motorola Inc. handsets, the Timeport P7382I and T193, an AT&T Wireless Mobile Connection for laptop computers and a Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC with AT&T Wireless Mobile Connection.
Service plans begin at $50 per month for 400 voice minutes and one megabyte allocation of data. Incremental data use is billed at less than one cent per kilobyte.
