SEATTLE—E-City Software Inc., which develops interactive maps, said new market initiatives in the wireless industry have created significant product opportunities for wireless versions of E-City’s core 3D CityMap technology, and consequently E-City plans to launch its first wireless-enabled 3D CityMap product in March.
“Interoperability, the increased bandwidth of 3G and the FCC E911 standards have all contributed to an environment in which wireless providers eagerly seek out applications which can deliver a superior visual experience for location-based applications,” said Anis Jessa, chief executive officer of E-City Software. “We believe that the ability to deliver to an end user an interactive 3D CityMap over a wireless device would provide carriers or service providers with a significant competitive advantage, which could translate into licensing revenue for E-City.”
