MUNICH, Germany—Siemens AG bucked industry trends by reporting a first quarter net profit of $478.8 million against a loss of $971 million in the previous quarter.
“The level of net income and the positive trend … give us confidence that we can continue to improve our results, despite ongoing weakness in the economic environment,” said Chief Executive Heinrich von Pierer.
