ST. LOUIS—Amdocs Ltd. reported first-quarter earnings after the trading close January 22 of $4.3 million, or 2 cents per share, on revenues of $422.6 million.
For its 2002 first quarter, which closed December 31, Amdocs said its revenue increased by 23.5 percent over the same period a year ago, but its net income dropped from $12.8 million, or 6 cents per share.
The company attributed the income decline partly to two charges. There was a $17.4 million write-off of “in-process research and development related to the acquisition of Clarify,” which it said, “establishes Amdocs as the Number 1 provider of CRM (customer relationship management) to communications services providers.”
Amdocs also took a $13.3 million charge to pay relocation, severance and other costs associated with the consolidation of its Stamford, Conn., data center into its facility in Champaign, Ill.
