REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—Multimedia messaging continues to make waves in the wireless industry, as two major messaging companies today announced MMS products for both wireless carriers and corporate customers.
Wireless Internet giant Openwave Systems Inc. released its MMS infrastructure solution, which is part of its instant messaging, e-mail and unified communications product portfolio. Openwave said it is trialing the MMS product with several wireless operators, including Genie, the wireless Internet business of Mmo2.
Separately, short messaging service infrastructure provider Logica announced it is working with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. to develop MMS applications for the corporate market.
MMS services will allow users to send messaging incorporating text, pictures, animations and sound clips.
