CUPERTINO, California, United States—Tropian unveiled its CodeStar Polar Impact RF technology, which it will demonstrate over W-CDMA technology, although it also offers a solution for GSM, Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) networks.
“Polar Impact is a breakthrough that will result in significant cost reductions in the manufacturing of a common, multimode radio platform for UMTS, GSM, EDGE, and TDMA,” said Michael Farese, Tropian’s president and chief executive officer (CEO). “It will help the market proper and enable cell-phone users to enjoy a high performance phone with worldwide roaming capability at an affordable price.”
Tropian will also demonstrate its new TimeStar multi-mode, multi-band RF transmitter solution that incorporates GSM/GPRS, EDGE, TDMA, and AMPS wireless standards into one transmitter chip.
