WASHINGTON–AT&T Wireless Services Inc. has been awarded the TRUSTe Privacy Seal after completing a comprehensive certification process.
“Consumer education about privacy issues is critical to establishing consumer confidence. As our customers begin using their wireless phones to communicate in new ways—from text messaging and swapping color photos to shopping and other mobile services not yet imagined—they must also be informed and in control of how their personal information is treated,” said J. Walter Hyer, AT&T Wireless’ chief privacy officer.
AT&T is also the first wireless company to become a “premier sponsor” of the TRUSTe program as TRUSTe tries to expand into the mobile commerce arena.
