MAISONS-LAFFITTE, France—Webraska said it will supply Chinese and English location-based services to Shell Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service in Hong Kong targeted at motorists. Motorists will be able to purchase subscriptions to a range of location-enabled Subscriber Identity Module-Toolkit services from all 60 Shell gas stations in Hong Kong, as well as other selected locations focusing on motorists.
The Shell location services include short message service (SMS) traffic alerts, offering daily mobile alerts of traffic incidents; a traffic reporter service with current road and tunnel conditions; route planner, which detects a user’s location and provides directions to a selected destination; journey assist, offering directions on quickest routes and estimated journey times; and location finder, with directions to the nearest car park or Shell service station.
“Through a simple menu in the mobile phone, customers can receive the most up-to-date and relevant driving support information anytime and anywhere,” said Jeanine Bakx, Shell Mobile product development director.
Shell Mobile has partnered with Hong Kong operator Sunday Communications to offer an MVNO service in Hong Kong.
