Nokia lays off staff in Finnish factory

HELSINKI, Finland—Nokia is laying off 55 to 75 people from its production plant in Espoo, Finland, the company said.

“The needs at the factory have decreased as the production process has been developed and the roles of the different Nokia Networks plants have been further clarified,” Nokia said.

The Espoo plant concentrates mainly on the integration of mobile switches.

Nokia said it employed 19,392 people at the end of 2001.
