NEW DELHI, India-Hutchison Essar has launched its GSM services in Karnataka circle in south India. It is the third private cellular operator in the state.
Last month, the company launched its service in another southern area, Andhra Pradesh. It is expected to roll out services in the Chennai metropolitan area soon. “Our new networks in the south have been set up in record time and are benchmarked against the best in the world,” Hutchison Essar Director Asim Ghosh said.
The company is offering its GSM service under the Hutch brand name. Rajiv Sawhney, Hutchison Essar south chief executive officer (CEO), said the service will be launched first in Karnataka’s five cities-Bangalore, Hubli, Dharwad, Mangalore and Mysore.
Hutchison Essar is a joint venture between Hutchison Telecom and the Essar Group. It already operates services in Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Gujarat.
