CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Sprint PCS affiliate UbiquiTel Inc. said it added 15,700 net subscribers during the second quarter, in line with recently downgraded guidance, with virtually all of the subscriber growth from prime credit class customers as opposed to Clear Pay subprime customers. The carrier ended the quarter with 217,800 total customers.
“We continue to make progress toward achieving our growth objectives while improving the quality of our Sprint customer base,” said Donald Harris, chairman and chief executive officer of UbiquiTel. “We experienced sequential growth throughout the quarter while maintaining deposit requirements on subprime credit categories across all our markets and believe this momentum will continue in the third quarter.”
UbiquiTel will released full second-quarter results on July 29.
