LONDON-Hutchison 3G U.K. Ltd. announced agreements with five companies to deliver location-based services to its future U.K. third-generation subscribers. The agreements are with the U.K. national mapping agency Ordnance Survey and vendors Tele Altas, Whereonearth, Ionic Software and TCS.
The agreements will provide Hutchison with location technology to enable it to allow its 3G customers to pinpoint their positions on digital maps on their 3G handsets. The service will offer directions to hotels, restaurants, shops and businesses using real-time displays.
Hutchison has announced its 3G services in the United Kingdom will be branded as “3.”
