BUENOS AIRES, Argentina-SkyOnline bought the Argentine and Uruguay affiliates of Diveo on 20 October for around US$7 million. It is the first acquisition involving wireless networks by SkyOnline in the region. Diveo operates fixed wireless networks in Argentina using 10.5 GHz, 23 GHz and 38 GHz and has invested US$150 million to date.
Gonzalo Berra, general manager of SkyOnline in Argentina, said: “The strategy is to view the crisis as an opportunity to expand our participation in the market.” During the last two years, SkyOnline has bought the Latin American unit of Teleglobe and four Internet service providers in Argentina, as well as Diveo.
SkyOnline belongs to an investment fund formed by Suez, NIT and Pequot.
