JOHANNESBURG, South Africa-Kenyan mobile network operator Safaricom has reported that its subscribers will be able to receive text message updates on political developments during the countdown to the upcoming general election.
Michael Joseph, Safaricom general manager, said the information will be delivered via a short message service (SMS) facility free and that the recent congestions that had plagued the network would not affect the service delivery.
In addition, he praised the current dealer network in Kenya for helping the operator reach a wider subscriber base, particularly in the rural areas of the country.
