TOKYO-NTT DoCoMo, the leading mobile carrier in Japan, and Oracle announced the firms jointly developed an interactive intranet information system that lets personal digital assistant (PDA) users access their company’s systems for exchanging information.
Both companies are planning to start selling the platform, called Enterprises Mobile Framework (EMF), in March 2003 at the earliest. Both firms jointly demonstrated the prototype of the system at OracleWorld in San Francisco.
NTT DoCoMo and Oracle in March 2002 announced a business alliance for the mobile communications business by combining NTT DoCoMo’s third-generation (3G) service FOMA and Oracle software. The launch of EMF would be the first product based on the business alliance. Both firms have already shipped the system to several companies, including financial institutions and distribution systems on an experimental basis. Both firms are targeting to introduce the system outside Japan in the future.
