MORRISTOWN, N.J.-Celerica Inc. said Israeli-based wireless operator Cellcom has completed a successful trial of the Celerica 500 System.
Celerica’s system allows carriers to deploy new cell sites and to extend coverage areas within hours via optical wireless technology.
“We could have installed a new base station at the remote site, however that would have been very expensive and taken a considerable amount of time,” explained Tzvika Shechori, Cellcom’s vice president of research and technology. “The Celerica 500 system has extended our coverage in this area without any concerns about compatibility, spectrum, power, electricity or additional real estate costs. It’s the ideal solution to overcome coverage issues in urban areas.”
