BEIJING-At year-end, China Unicom announced it had reached its target of 7 million CDMA users. The company also said it had built a CDMA 1x network in all provincial capital cities and economically important cities with the exception of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.
In the second half of 2002, Unicom expanded the network with a capacity of 15 million subscribers to cover small cities all over the country. The expansion will be completely put into service in the first quarter of 2003.
This year, China Unicom plans to add 13 million new CDMA subscribers.
