MANILA, The Philippines-Despite hard times, Filipino consumers adhere to mobile phones and will find the means to raise the cash needed to upgrade their gadgets, according to the latest survey by ACNielsen.
Compared with other Asians, Filipino consumers will spend more on high-tech gadgets and buy fully loaded mobile phones and desktop/notebook PCs. At least 39 percent of Filipinos in the survey plan to buy new phones and notebooks against the region’s average of 23 percent.
“Mobile-phone owners are looking to upgrade their telephones with the latest technology available in the market,” the report stated.
While facing financial problems, more than 25 percent of Filipinos will spend more during the next six months than previous purchases. Other planned electronics purchases in the next six months include digital cameras, cars, and DVD players.
The online survey was done in 13 countries in Asia Pacific and has a representative sample of more than 9,800 consumers with Internet access.
