McCain reintroduces telecom diversity bill

WASHINGTON-Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Thursday reintroduced legislation designed to promote diversity in the telecommunications industry by giving tax breaks to companies that sell wireless and wireline assets to minorities, women and small businesses.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell said the bill is much needed. “I believe it is essential that we promote greater inclusiveness in our media and communications delivery sectors,” he said.
