TOKYO-The Walt Disney Company Japan (WDCJ) and NTT DoCoMo announced they have partnered to create a new character for NTT DoCoMo’s mobile phones. Based on the tie-up, both firms jointly developed a new character series called “Dimo.” It is the first time Disney has developed a new character exclusively for mobile handsets.
The new character will be pre-installed on NTT DoCoMo’s new handset series 505i. Disney aims to expand the distribution channels for its characters, while NTT DoCoMo aims to expand handset sales through the deal.
According to both companies, Dimo consists of six characters living on mobile handsets. The six characters are Spike, Swish, BiBi, BunBun, Minkey and Zamo.
