Two small vendors have made some progress in the multimedia messaging service center arena this week with global wins announced by LogicaCMG and Comverse.
LogicalCMG announced an agreement to supply Ireland’s smallest mobile operator with its MMSC. The product includes transcoding and number portability capabilities. LogicaCMG said it has a global MMS market share of 20 percent.
In addition, Comverse said it will supply an MMSC to MTN South Africa, the country’s second-largest operator. Comverse said its product offers interoperability between MMS handsets with varying display capabilities.
Neither supplier revealed the value of the contracts.
L.M. Ericsson and Nokia Corp. have led the MMSC market due to the fact they can offer packaged deals that include all the elements of an MMS service, according to industry analysts.
