LONDON-Marconi plc said it has added security enhancement to its network management software that ensures smooth communications between network devices in commercial and government networks. The company also said it is partnering with Metallic Power to provide zinc-based fuel cell back-up power sources.
“The new enhancements support Triple Data Encryption Standard for Simple Network Management Protocol, version 3, used by network operators to encrypt and secure the messages that manage network elements,” said the company.
On the fuel cells, Marconi said it will place an order with Metallic Power “in what is believed to be the largest order ever placed for fuel cells used in telecommunications back-up applications.”
