RESTON, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. announced the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has trademarked its push-to-talk service. The news follows the rollout of Nextel’s Nationwide Direct Connect PTT service earlier this month, which the company expects to complete in August.
The carrier said it began the trademark process in January 2002, and push to talk joins its other registered trademarks, including PTT, Nextel Direct Connect, Direct Connect and Nationwide Direct Connect.
“These trademarks reflect Nextel’s innovative approach to changing the way people communicate in business and personal life,” said Mark Schweitzer, senior vice president of marketing at Nextel.
