HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. said it won $70 million worth of GSM network expansion contracts from the Philippines’ Smart Communications Inc. Deliveries of equipment and services have already begun, the Finnish supplier said.
Smart said the contracts will help it address its objectives for capacity expansion, preparation for future platforms and continuous service quality improvements. The operator said it has 10 million subscribers.
The agreements include EDGE-ready base station subsystems and network switching subsystems, in addition to a short message service capacity expansion and microwave radios.
