Telefonica Moviles implements NEC i-mode platform in Spain

TOKYO-NEC Corp. said its mobile Internet platform is in use in Spain as part of Telefonica Moviles Espana’s launch of i-mode service. In addition, NEC’s latest handset began selling in Spain in late June.

NEC will supply its mobile multimedia system to develop i-mode services as one of the service menus for Telefonica Moviles’ e-mocion mobile data service.

The N341i handset has a fold-form design, a 2.2-inch color LCD screen and an integrated camera. The phone also features a second screen on the handset’s topfold and can be customized according to an owner’s preferences.

NEC said it plans to sell the new N341i to other i-mode service providers as well.
