TOKYO-IPMobile said it has received a trial license to deploy a trial system using TD-CDMA technology in Japan.
The company said it has built three cell sites inside the Tokyo metropolitan area with subscribers using PCMCIA cards and modems with USB and Ethernet interfaces.
“The major objective of deploying the trial system is to conduct a series of radio transmission experiments using UMTS TDD technology, a branch of the IMT-2000 standards,” said the company. “Since the system employs Time Division Multiplex, it can better match the traffic pattern that is typical for Internet access .”
