Passengers on Southeast Airlines may soon be able to surf the Internet using wireless Wi-Fi network capabilities as well as talk on their mobile phones, all during flights, due to a new deal between SkyWay Communications Holding Corp. and the airline carrier.
SkyWay said it signed a letter of intent with Southeast Airlines to install its Sky Way Aircraft System on the entire fleet of Southeast Airlines’ aircraft. The system includes high-speed wireless Internet, in-flight security and archiving of monitored information, air filtration system monitoring and-upon approval-cellular micro-cells for mobile-phone use.
The move comes as several major airline carriers have loosened restrictions on mobile-phone use before takeoff and after landing.
