FCC to showcase rural wireless Internet service providers

WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission will showcase rural wireless Internet service providers Sept. 17, said Robert Pepper, chief of policy development at the commission.

“One of the most promising developments in the deployment of broadband in rural America is wireless,” said Pepper at the FCC’s August meeting. “The National Telecommunications Cooperative Association reports that 17 percent of their members are using unlicensed technologies to get broadband to their members.”
