Taiwan’s APBW launches CDMA2000 services

TAIPEI, Taiwan-Taiwanese newcomer Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless Communications Inc. has launched CDMA2000 1x EV-DO services in Taiwan. The company is the first to market with third-generation services.

The company is offering 1x services nationwide and 1x EV-DO in the Taipei metropolitan area. The CDMA Development Group said the operator deployed its service in eight months.

Tektronix said the operator will use its NetTek field tool for operational maintenance.

APBW was awarded one of five 3G licenses in Taiwan in February 2002 and was one of two greenfield operators awarded 3G licenses.
