CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-Independent telecommunications provider McLeodUSA Inc. signed a multi-year wholesale agreement with AT&T Wireless Services Inc. allowing McLeodUSA to provide wireless voice services as part of its bundled Preferred Advantage product portfolio.
McLeodUSA said it will market its Preferred Advantage Wireless package to businesses in its 25-state service territory beginning this month, and the offering is expected to be available across all of its markets by the end of the year.
“We are very excited to be entering this strategic relationship with AT&T Wireless, which will allow McLeodUSA to provide extremely high-quality, reliable wireless voice calling on a nationwide digital platform covering over 90 percent of the markets in our 25-state footprint,” said Chris Davis, chairman and chief executive officer of McLeodUSA.
McLeodUSA originally purchased a number of PCS licenses in 1997 for $30 million, but sold the properties in 2001 for more than $100 million after it was unable to meet Federal Communication Commission buildout requirements.
