Alltel signs on Walt Disney content

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.-Wireless carrier Alltel announced a wide-ranging deal with Walt Disney Internet Group to bolster its wireless content offerings, including its BREW application download service.

Through the new deal, Alltel said it will offer sports scores from ESPN.com, headlines from ABCNEWS.com and family and entertainment content based on Disney characters. Specifically, Alltel said it will offer ESPN’s X Games Skateboarding and X Games Snowboarding games, games based on Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Finding Nemo” movies, and wireless versions of ABCNews.com, ESPN.com and FamilyFun.com.

“Alltel has a very large customer base, and we’re pleased to be make WDIG content available to them,” said Larry Shapiro, executive vice president, business development and operations for WDIG. “New wireless content enabled by advanced handsets and Alltel’s network really starts to show the breadth of wireless content and the resources and entertainment it can bring to mobile-phone subscribers.”
