SAN JOSE, Calif.-Stratex Networks Inc. will acquire Cape Town, South Africa-based Plessey Broadband Wireless, a division of Tellumat, for $3 million in stock and up to $3 million in cash. The transaction is scheduled to close Oct. 1.
With Plessey, Stratex acquires a license-exempt microwave transmission product line that complements Stratex’ existing licensed product portfolio since it will allow the company to offer customers both licensed and unlicensed products.
In other acquisitions news, Wireless Edge Networks Inc. and TelSouth Wireless L.L.C. recently announced they will merge to form one company dedicated to developing and deploying value-added wireless applications and Wi-Fi 802.11 high-speed Internet access services. The new company will retain the Wireless Edge Networks Inc. name.
In addition, Intec Telecom Systems plc, a provider of operations support systems, said it will acquire Danish company Digiquant A/S, a global supplier of OSS/business support systems for next-generation data services in wireless and fixed-line service providers, through the issue of approximately 15.96 million new Intec shares worth $10.8 million plus the repayment of $1.1 million of outstanding loans.
