ORLANDO, Fla.-New Horizons Technologies International Inc., maker of the Cyclone disposable phone, announced its low-cost emergency cellular phone is now shipping.
The disposable 911+ Emergency Cell Phone is targeted at the safety/security/emergency market. It is designed to call 911 emergency services and can be used to make collect or credit card calls nationwide. The phone runs on three replaceable AA alkaline batteries, and it doesn’t require activation, airtime or monthly fees.
“Sure, any cell phone can technically be used as an emergency phone. But other phones need to be constantly recharged, requiring extra accessories and expensive replacement batteries,” explained Karen Wilson, founder and chief executive officer. “Not the 911+. You can store our phone in your glove box, purse or even in a first-aid kit for year at a time. Just put in a fresh set of AA batteries, and you have instant power to make your emergency call.”
The handset also uses an intelligent power management system that monitors power consumption and shuts down automatically when not in use.
