BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom-Sendo has released its multimedia smart phone, the Sendo X, featuring video, audio, camera, connectivity and Internet functionality. The release comes amid the company’s legal battle with Microsoft Corp. after Sendo dumped the Microsoft operating system earlier this year and filed a lawsuit against its former partner.
“We believe that the Sendo X has the best combination of advanced multimedia and Internet capability of any phone available on the market today,” said Hugh Brogan, Sendo’s chief executive officer. “True to Sendo’s business model, we have made the Sendo X extremely customizable for both the operator and the user.”
The Sendo X is a GPRS tri-band phone incorporating Symbian OS and Nokia Series 60 software.
Sendo said it expects to begin shipping the phone by the end of the year. Pricing was unavailable.
The announcement comes the same day that U.S. carrier AT&T Wireless released the first Microsoft-based handset to the U.S. market.
