SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. said Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. has agreed to use its MSM6250 for its multimedia-enabled handsets for UMTS markets.
“Together, Qualcomm and Sanyo will provide smaller, attractive 3G wireless devices utilizing a common applications platform that simplifies development of multiple products for a variety of markets,” said Sanjay K. Jha, president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.
Qualcomm’s new single-chip solution is the RFR6500, a cdma2000 1x and EV-DO. It enables higher data throughput and increases network capacity, especially in dense urban environments, according to Qualcomm. Known as a receive diversity solution, Qualcomm says it reduces bill of material, lowers power consumption and is backward compatible.
