LOS ANGELES-Ring tone company Xingtone announced it expanded its innovative ring tone service, which allows users to turn their MP3 or WAV music files on their desktop computers into 30-second ring tones.
“This is an explosive opportunity to marry the world’s two most promising networks-personal computers and wireless handsets,” said Brad Zutaut, the company’s co-chief executive officer. “Xingtone is now on multiple carrier networks with more coming soon. To celebrate this major accomplishment, we are offering our software for free until the end of the year.”
Xingtone said subscribers of Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless, AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and T-Mobile USA Inc. can now use its service. The Xingtone applications features a browser to access audio files on a personal computer, a trimmer to modify the file for mobile phones, and an uploader that sends files to the phones.
Research firm Strategy Analytics estimates the worldwide ring tone and wireless music industry to be worth $4 billion.
