ATLANTA-BellSouth Corp. is reportedly planning to cut more than 1,000 jobs, including positions from its previously announced exit from the payphone business, during the first quarter of next year. The company, which controls 40 percent of Cingular Wireless L.L.C., said affected employees would have the opportunity to apply for other positions within BellSouth.
