Alltel Corp. said it will begin offering its Touch2Talk walkie-talkie service Wednesday across roughly half its network, including Little Rock; Cleveland; Phoenix; New Orleans; Charlotte, N.C.; and Tampa, Fla.; with the rest of its network covered by March 31.
The telecommunications provider said the Kodiak Networks Inc.-based service can be added to any of its calling plans with costs ranging from $5 per month for 100 minutes to up to $20 per month for unlimited use. The service also allows customers to set up group lists with up to 10 participants and up to 30 groups with group calling prices based on the options selected.
Kyocera Corp. will provide its 3250 tri-mode handset for the initial launch. The phone will retail for $150 with a one-year contract and $100 with a two-year contract.
